Description

Crispy fried calamari served with a spicy marinara sauce.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound calamari, cleaned and sliced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  3. Dredge calamari in the flour mixture.
  4. Fry calamari in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  6. In a small saucepan, heat marinara sauce and stir in crushed red pepper flakes.
  7. Serve calamari hot with spicy marinara on the side.

Notes

  • Make sure the oil is hot enough for a crispy texture.
