Cheese Fatayer are boat-shaped pies filled with cheese, a popular Middle Eastern snack.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon yeast
- 1 cup feta cheese, crumbled
- 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Mix flour, salt, sugar, and yeast in a bowl.
- Add warm water and olive oil. Knead until smooth.
- Let the dough rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Combine feta and mozzarella in a bowl.
- Roll out the dough and cut into circles.
- Place cheese mixture in the center of each circle.
- Fold the edges to form a boat shape.
- Brush with egg wash.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
- Use any cheese of your choice.
- You can add herbs for extra flavor.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
