Description

A savory pastry filled with spiced chicken, wrapped like cigars for easy snacking.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken thighs, boneless and skinless
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup almonds, chopped
  • 8 sheets of phyllo dough
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook chicken thighs in a pot with onions and garlic until done.
  2. Add spices, parsley, and almonds. Mix well and let cool.
  3. Lay one sheet of phyllo dough and brush with melted butter.
  4. Place a spoonful of chicken mixture at one end and roll tightly.
  5. Brush the rolled cigars with more melted butter.
  6. Bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • Serve with a side of yogurt or sauce for dipping.
  • You can substitute chicken with vegetables for a vegetarian version.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container.
