- 1 pre-baked pie crust
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup milk
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 large egg yolks
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Whipped cream for topping
- Chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
- In a saucepan, whisk together sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt.
- Add milk and cream to the dry mixture and cook over medium heat.
- Stir constantly until the mixture thickens and bubbles.
- Remove from heat and whisk in egg yolks, butter, and vanilla.
- Pour the chocolate filling into the pre-baked pie crust.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours to set.
- Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings before serving.
Notes
- Make sure the pie crust is completely cooled before adding the filling.
- For a richer taste, use dark chocolate instead of cocoa powder.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator.
