Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream for topping
  • Chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, whisk together sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt.
  2. Add milk and cream to the dry mixture and cook over medium heat.
  3. Stir constantly until the mixture thickens and bubbles.
  4. Remove from heat and whisk in egg yolks, butter, and vanilla.
  5. Pour the chocolate filling into the pre-baked pie crust.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours to set.
  7. Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings before serving.

Notes

  • Make sure the pie crust is completely cooled before adding the filling.
  • For a richer taste, use dark chocolate instead of cocoa powder.
