Description

Chorba Frik is a traditional Algerian soup made with crushed green wheat, meat, and spices.


Ingredients

  • 400g lamb or beef, diced
  • 200g frik (crushed green wheat)
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 potato, diced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 2 liters water
  • Fresh coriander for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, sauté the onion until golden.
  2. Add the diced meat and brown on all sides.
  3. Mix in the tomatoes, carrots, and potatoes.
  4. Add water and bring to a boil.
  5. Stir in the frik, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  6. Reduce heat and simmer for 30-40 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust spices according to your taste.
  • Serve hot with bread.
