Crispy skin duck breast served with a rich blackberry sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 duck breasts
  • 1 cup fresh blackberries
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup red wine
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Score the skin of the duck breasts in a crisscross pattern.
  2. Season the duck breasts with salt and pepper.
  3. Place the duck breasts skin-side down in a cold skillet.
  4. Turn the heat to medium and cook for 6-8 minutes until the skin is crispy.
  5. Flip the duck breasts and cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare.
  6. Remove the duck from the skillet and let it rest.
  7. In the same skillet, add blackberries, chicken broth, red wine, honey, and balsamic vinegar.
  8. Simmer until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  9. Slice the duck breasts and serve with the blackberry sauce.

Notes

  • Let the duck rest for optimal juiciness.
  • Adjust the sweetness of the sauce with more honey if desired.
  • Serve with vegetables or mashed potatoes.
