Description

Diri Djon Djon is a flavorful rice dish made with dried black mushrooms.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups of long-grain rice
  • 4 cups of water
  • 1 cup of dried djon djon mushrooms
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of thyme

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Soak the dried mushrooms in warm water for 30 minutes.
  3. Heat the oil in a pot over medium heat and sauté the onion and garlic until soft.
  4. Add the soaked mushrooms and their soaking liquid to the pot.
  5. Stir in the rice, salt, pepper, and thyme.
  6. Add water and bring to a boil.
  7. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes or until rice is cooked.
  8. Fluff rice with a fork before serving.
