Description
Diri Djon Djon is a flavorful rice dish made with dried black mushrooms.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups of long-grain rice
- 4 cups of water
- 1 cup of dried djon djon mushrooms
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon of thyme
Instructions
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Soak the dried mushrooms in warm water for 30 minutes.
- Heat the oil in a pot over medium heat and sauté the onion and garlic until soft.
- Add the soaked mushrooms and their soaking liquid to the pot.
- Stir in the rice, salt, pepper, and thyme.
- Add water and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes or until rice is cooked.
- Fluff rice with a fork before serving.
Notes
- Adjust water based on the type of rice used.
- Serve with grilled chicken or vegetables.
