- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add molasses and egg to the butter mixture, and blend well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into desired shapes.
- Place cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are firm.
- Let cool before decorating.
Notes
- Adjust spices to taste.
- Cookies can be decorated with icing or sprinkles.
