Description
A flavorful and aromatic rice dish made with halal chicken, spices, and herbs.
Ingredients

- 2 cups basmati rice
- 500 grams halal chicken, cut into pieces
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, minced
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1/4 cup cooking oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro and mint leaves for garnish
- 4 cups water
Instructions
- Rinse the basmati rice until the water runs clear and soak for 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a large pot and add cumin seeds. Sauté until fragrant.
- Add sliced onions and cook until golden brown.
- Stir in minced garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Cook for a few minutes.
- Add chicken pieces and cook until browned.
- Mix in chopped tomatoes, yogurt, and spices. Cook until chicken is tender.
- Add soaked rice and water. Stir gently and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes or until rice is cooked.
- Remove from heat and let it sit for 10 minutes before serving.
- Garnish with cilantro and mint leaves before serving.
Notes
- Adjust spices according to your taste.
- Serve with raita or salad.
- For extra flavor, add saffron soaked in warm milk.
