Ingredients

  • Almond flour – 1 cup
  • Powdered sugar – 1 cup
  • Egg whites – 3 large
  • Granulated sugar – 1/4 cup
  • Food coloring – red
  • Butter – 1/2 cup (for filling)
  • Powdered sugar – 1 cup (for filling)
  • Vanilla extract – 1 tsp (for filling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix almond flour and powdered sugar.
  3. In another bowl, beat egg whites until foamy.
  4. Gradually add granulated sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
  5. Add food coloring and mix gently.
  6. Fold the almond mixture into the egg whites.
  7. Pipe heart shapes onto a baking sheet.
  8. Let them sit for 30 minutes.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
  10. Allow to cool before filling.
  11. Prepare the filling by mixing butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla.
  12. Pipe filling onto half of the macarons and sandwich with the other half.
