- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened (for frosting)
- 2–4 tablespoons milk (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
- Stir in vanilla.
- Gradually add the flour mixture, alternating with milk.
- Pour batter into prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to racks.
- For frosting, beat butter and powdered sugar together, adding milk until smooth.
- Frost the cooled cakes as desired.
Notes
- Use a cake leveler for even layers.
- Chill the frosted cake for easier slicing.
- Add food coloring for a decorative touch.
