Description

Pikliz is a spicy pickled cabbage slaw that adds a kick to any meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 medium green cabbage, shredded
  • 2 carrots, grated
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • 23 habanero peppers, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Instructions

  1. Shred the cabbage and grate the carrots.
  2. In a large bowl, combine cabbage and carrots.
  3. In a saucepan, mix vinegar, water, salt, and sugar. Bring to a boil.
  4. Pour the hot vinegar mixture over the cabbage and carrots.
  5. Add the sliced habanero peppers.
  6. Let it cool to room temperature.
  7. Transfer to a jar and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust the number of peppers to control heat level.
  • Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a month.
