Description

A traditional Moroccan dessert made with sweetened couscous, cinnamon, and almonds.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup couscous
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a pot, bring water to a boil.
  2. Add couscous and stir. Remove from heat and cover for 5 minutes.
  3. Fluff couscous with a fork.
  4. Melt butter in a pan and add sugar, cinnamon, and raisins.
  5. Add fluffed couscous to the pan and mix well.
  6. Toast almonds in a dry pan until golden.
  7. Serve the couscous warm, topped with toasted almonds and powdered sugar.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use ghee instead of butter.
  • Adjust sugar to taste.
  • Serve with a side of honey for drizzling.
