Description
Soft pretzels served with a creamy cheese dip.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups warm water
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1 egg, beaten
- Coarse salt for topping
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes.
- Add flour and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 5 minutes until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Divide dough into 8 pieces and shape into pretzels.
- Boil water and baking soda in a pot. Boil each pretzel for 30 seconds.
- Place pretzels on a baking sheet. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse salt.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- For cheese dip, melt butter in a saucepan, add milk and cheese, stir until smooth.
Notes
- Serve pretzels warm for best taste.
- Feel free to add spices to the cheese dip.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
