Description

Za’atar Manakish is a traditional Levantine flatbread topped with a flavorful mix of herbs and spices.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons za’atar spice mix
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, salt, and sugar.
  2. In another bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
  3. Add olive oil to the yeast mixture.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients to form a dough.
  5. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  6. Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour.
  7. Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C).
  8. Divide the dough into balls and roll out into circles.
  9. Spread za’atar mix on each circle.
  10. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  11. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
